Updates

I have been missing for multiple reasons.

Work tied me down for weekdays and weekends from mid August till even today. Weekends arent as bad now, as I only get online if I get called.

My diet program was effective for the first 2 weeks, but by week #3, I think my body became imune to the routine and pills. I DARE NOT weigh myself, unless asked to by the doctor :D

I have started painting my apartment by myself. So its one area per weekend. I need to get more paint of different colours for the other rooms. Hopefully soon before Christmas. I havent decided the colour for Toby's room. It will be probably blue, but not quite sure what shade of blue.

I have no more energy to vacuum and mop daily. So, I do it alternate days and scrubbing is left for the weekends. I shut one eye now if I see anything on the floor or any other surface in the house :)

What I need to do within the next two weeks is to get a clothes hanger to organise the wardrobe room and paint to start painting other areas of the house.

Most important is - I need a break from work.

After 16 years

... I am going to celebrate Christmas with my sister :) It has been too long since we as a family celebrated Christmas, Chinese New Year or even birthdays' together. I celebrated my 25th birthday with pa, ma, ce-ce & ko-ko in 2005 when we were in UK for her wedding. Then this year we had an early birthday celebration for Toby in Kuantan :)

So this Christmas is extra special, because ma & I will be in UK celebrating Christmas with ce-ce, ko-ko & Toby! The tickets were booked 3 weeks ago and we're flying SIA to and fro. I've been thinking about what to buy for all of them. Ma has already started buying!! She's too fast and probably very very excited. Unfortunately, pa wont be with us :(

Ce-ce has been planning our 15 days stay. Food and places to visit etc etc. But we all know that we just want to stay home together and talk (quarrel as well) and eat and of course entertain & be entertained by Toby!! Toby is like my sister. Talk-talk-talk :P He has a new song. It sounds like this "Ma ma ma.. ma ma ma"

I AM OVERWEIGHT!!

I knew I was fat. But I didnt expect to be 25kgs over my ideal body weight!!

I went to the doctor yesterday for consultation on how to loose weight and was told this. I was expecting maybe 20kgs but was a little shocked when he told me I've got to loose 25kgs, slowly but surely. So for the next few months (hopefully not years) I am on a strict diet and under doctor supervision. I have a follow up every 2 weeks.

With me luck!!

My new home

This is MY new home :D A little messy but its MINE!! :D For the past week and half I've been busy moving into my new home. It started on Saturday 5 July - grill installation; Sunday - lights; Monday - all electrical equipments and lastly Tuesday - sofa, bed & dining table.

I now realise I am a clean freak. I vacuum the house every single day before I go to work and mop the kitchen each time after I cook! I wipe the table everytime I have used it and I wash the toilet whenever I have a shower!!

My parents are coming over this weekend. I know what my mum is going to say about the curtains which have not been pulled up to the correct length (my sister a.k.a inspector gadget has told me this as well), the many plastic bags which have not been un packed and probably the kitchen sink which needs a proper sink and cabinet :D

I am going to "reserve" on BLUE room for Toby for when he comes next to visit. Everyone else can sleep on the floor!!

BUT all in all everything is great! I now look forward to going home after work to just sit down, watch tv, cook, eat, drink .. do whatever I want!!

My new home

Hopefully by this time next week, I would have collected the keys to my new home. I've been waiting for this day since I started working. Just like any young person (ahem) I dreamed of my own home and car. Today I thank God that I have both :) Of course I thank God for my pa & ma, jie-jie, ko-ko & Toby tobs :D They are always happy for me as well

SO! What are my plans for the next few weeks. I'll be off to Ikea this weekend for lights, curtain rods & curtains and maybe bedroom ideas. Then probably I'll go window shopping to the electrical shop for lcd-tv, fridge, washing machine, water heater & cooker hood & hubs. Oh so exciting!!

Toby has gone home...

For 3 weeks, my home was filled with laughter because Toby was the king of the house! We all took turns to feed, bathe and play with him. His Ah Kong was a very proud grandfather, whom without fail, would bring Toby to the neighbours and playground every evening. It was his sociliasing hours ;)

Toby is now back home in the UK. He is experiencing jet lag and woke up at 4:30 a.m.!! In another 5 weeks, his Ah Ma will be over and another 6 months, Ah Ma and I (and hopefully Ah Kong) will be celebrating Toby's first Christmas in the UK :D

We miss you Toby ... dak dak ... look look look .. there there

Just another 28 hours

Its now 6:55 a.m. in London, less than 12 hours from now, Toby-tobs will be in busy Heathrow, waiting to board the aeroplane back to Malaysia :D

This morning I went to the market to get his vegetable meals: peas, carrot, potato, sweet potato & pumpkin. Tomorrow I have to take the car for a wash, buy yoghurt and full cream milk. Not forgetting before I go to the airport to buy karipap daging & kentang, pulut panggang & apam balik. What else? Oh yes .. pisang emas to lure him to me ;)

I just got off the phone with ma. Pa has been on the ladder to clean the ceiling fans in the house. She has been busy tidying up Toby's room. A new cot, curtain, blanket and even mattress. The most amazing thing is that pa will be on leave for a week to take care of Toby while his mummy and daddy go off on a holiday. Its a miracle!!

Another 6 days!!

Yup! Just 6 days before we meet Toby tobs.. Oh very exciting. Dak dak dak ..

I've been really busy at work this whole week. Every system attempted suicide. So we had to be rescue rangers! Disaster as how my favourite mat salleh would say.

So today my sister has started packing her bags. I wonder how much clothes Toby would actually wear when he is here. I cant stand the heat, how can a mat salleh??

This is suppose to be for the new home, but we couldnt just leave it in boxes in my current hole ;) It needs to breathe! It started booming away this morning ... :D

Happy Labour Day!!

It's Labour Day and I am at work. I cant complain much, because I get paid to sit and stare at the computer and of course be on the phone as well ;)
I was in earlier today, because I had to leave early yesterday. Initially I had a very bad migraine, then I took a pain killer that has made things worse.. I started vomitting and my stomach started to cramp horribly. I am still in pain, but not as bad.. :( Work has to go on...

Another 22 days before I meet the Wicketts!

School - then and now

I left secondary school 11 years ago. I cant remember every single day of those 11 years (primary and secondary), but I can remember the highlights of them.

Today, as I was driving to work, I saw secondary school children walking to school and I realised how much I missed school and how different it is now and then.

My niece at home goes to school with colourful clips in her hair. I remember back then, it was only black pins. No colourful or fancy hair clips in school. If you are going to tie your hair with rubber band, it had to have a black or dark blue ribbon over it. Nothing else. If not, be prepared to hear a long lecture, have your hair re-tied with the correct colour ribbon and clips upon entering school compound.

I remember once in school, the discipline teacher threatened to cut my fringe because it was "almost" touching my eyebrows. Today, I see students with hair covering their faces going to school freely!!

One good change in schools these days is the usage of English for science and mathematics. I find it challenging trying to help my nephew with these subjects. I have to think before being able to answer him.. sometimes I get confused and have to sit down and study before being able to help him.

I use to enjoy walking back from school, rain or shine.. we preferred rain actually ;) I remember for every major exam that I sat for. If we were alllowed to take home the examination questions, I would burn each one of it. I knew friends who would go through the paper and refer to the books to see whether they had answered correctly.. But to I never liked doing that. I think it was because I was afraid that I had more wrong then right answers. I told my mum what was the use of checking for answers now, when I cant change any of it? :D

After working for 6 years now, I want to go back to school. No worries. Just books - reading and writing, with a few lab sessions now and then...

Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed & Thur

We were too tired to do anymore shopping on Sunday .. or should I be just honest and say that we had spend a little more than expected on the phones on Saturday ;)

In the evening, I sent my niece for her tae-kwando class and picked her up in heavy rain at around 6 p.m. We didnt know where to go and what to do. So I suggested, lets drive to Bagan Lalang!! Yes .. !!

We drove there in the rain, but luckily enough it had stopped in Sepang by the time we arrived. We ordered our usual kerapu, pepahat and ketam. Yum yum .. Dina jie-jie was so jealous .. Just like I was jealous that she was having burger!

I also had video calls with Toby tobs .. he's arriving in 4 weeks!! Hurrah!! (Say this and he will clap :D)

Its Thursday and I am already drained out. Just tired. My fingers are hurting. I am giving myself excuses not to see the doctor. I think I should if the pain doesnt go away by this week. Its getting more painful to even open the door or lift the laptop .. :(

In one week...

It feels like I blogged recently. But then I realised it was last Monday! So here goes..

Monday Apr 14th.
I was suppose to go to the gym, but mama bulat was out sick. So I wasn't feeling up to it to go alone AND I had too much work to do.

Tuesday Apr 15th.
Mama bulat came back to work and told me her ice-cream eating tragedy on Sunday. After finishing all baskin & robbins, papa & mama bulat decided to finish the ice-cream in the freezer, only to end up with food poisoning! Thank God there are two toilets in their apartment ;)
Feeling stressed at work, we decided to have dinner at the Penang House. I had penang curry noodles and mama bulat had beef noodles.

Wednesday Apr 16th.
My back was aching and my stomach was not normal. I was off sick. But had to endure more than 6 hours in the KIA service centre. Luckily for us, the service centre offered coffee and dvds AND most importantly free wifi connection. Hurrah!! After that, it was pain killers to sleep.

Thursday Apr 17th
Back to work. Unfortunately, had to resolve a sev2 :( Conference calls with DBA, backup & restoration.. what's the ETA? Ever favourite question of business partners .. then after its resolved and service availabe .. what's the RCA?? People have got to learn to let others breathe a little.. and have patience. From one thing to the other. Never a time to sit and think. If I dont sit and think, will I give you an accurate answer? OR should I just give you an answer that you expect? You can NEVER reply to an email honestly. BECAUSE either your boss will tell you off, or your business partner will turn the table around and it will be as if you are shooting your own feet. People are never satisfied or happy with anything!!

Friday Apr 18th
Sev2 issue the previous day is not over.. I still have to reply and answer to odd and funny questions. Why cant they make it simple for everyone? *sigh* Bulat isnt feeling well, so mama bulat had to work from home the second half of the day. Our friends in Europe had an awesome night out, so they are all working from home ;) I remember when I was there, Thursdays nights is when everyone goes out till wee hours of the morning, get home for a shower and change of clothes, then goes to office, hoping that there will be no major issues ;)

Saturday Apr 19th
This is an eventful day. We had appointment at Crimpers for our haircuts. I just couldnt take the messy hair. Sometimes I go to work looking like a crazy woman. After getting most of my hair layered, we went for lunch (note: this was at 4:30 p.m.) Then we decided to go and hunt of new mobile phones, since I am going to give my current one to my mum - nokia 2630 BIG FONTS!! We went to Atria. After comparing phones and prices. We finally decided on one N82 and one 6500 slider. Both black. We were concentrating so much on the phones that we didnt realise that it was raining "anjing kucing" outside. So we were trapped. Where else to go? Coffee and toasted bread! When the rain stopped, we headed home. Just like "red indian dapat senapang", we didnt talk to each other. We took our new phones out and started to explore, while airing P.Ramlee's Nasib Labu Labi on the laptop :D
I had two video calls to Toby tobs. One during his lunch and one after his dinner. I should get a video of him when he comes back. You should see how engrosed he can get when eating his rice biscuits. He looks at it as if its the best thing in this world. He doesnt have one, but TWO. This is after having his main course - sphagetti/chicken/lamb/fish, pudding - most of the time yoghurt. Just like his ah ee!! AND he started calling out "ee ee ee" We think he's calling me :D :D My mother will be so jealous!!

Another trip home..

I was home with parents over the weekend, to celebrate their 37th wedding anniversary. Mum contributed to the alter flowers in church on Sunday, because it was koko's birthday.

We went shopping for cloth, as mum is in the midst of making a patch blanket for the "golden piglet". While at the mamak cloth shop, I noticed a piece of batik sarong which looked exactly like the one that was being sold in the office for RM 80 .. I took it and looked at the price .. RM 18!! Ha! I could buy a dozen and sell it for RM 30 AND still profit RM 12 from each piece. Hmm.. good idea?

As per my usual routine back home, I went to visit my grandmother. She's really excited about her ang-mo gread grandson's visit next month. Its just another 6 weeks before Toby tobs arrives in Malaysia. Everyone is excited and I'm hoping the next 6 weeks will pass really really fast.

I'm not tired from travelling, but the journey can be too quiet at times.. AND I realised that I have started talking to myself on these trips.. *sigh*

Newsflash!

I am now in facebook! Ha ha .. lembap betul. Orang lain dah berkurun zaman ada kat facebook, aku baru minggu lepas.. Better late than never ;) I've also "found" many friends from teenage years. It's so fascinating to see how many are married and with children of their own. I feel old.

HIGHLIGHT - Toby tobs has gotten into calling me!! Yes .. according to my sister, whenever I call, he will start saying "gee, eee, eee" So he must be calling Ah Ee actually ;) Perasannye .. The other day the duck came to the backdoor for a peep and he got really excited and started calling out "dak, dak, dak". Then just over the weekend, fat cat was at the stairs and he pointed and said "kat, kat, kat"

ALSO, these few days I've been tuning into red fm at midnight to hear horror stories from the listeners. It is scary, listening to it and driving home alone .. but keeps we awake! Try it out one day.. ;)

Weekend come and go

On Friday I was hoping that the weekend would come sooner .. today is Sunday and I want it to be Friday ..

I havent been out because my other half is on the day shift this weekend. So I've been a good girl and stayed indoors.. and also because I hate driving in the rain.. not drizzle, but heavy heavy rain.

I was also suppose to be on standby for work, but last minute was told that was no longer necessary.. so no work, no plans..

*sigh*

Lights on! Lights off!

I travel daily to my office, using the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) to Cyberjaya. I realised one thing, which is very odd. In the afternoon, the road-lights are ON. Then when I travel home at midnight, the lights are OFF. This is really odd. WHY DO WE NEED LIGHTS ON WHEN ITS BL**D* BRIGHT!

Tell me .. tell me ..

The parents are in town!

My parents travelled down from Kuantan on Wednesday to attend Aunty Lu's funeral. They arrived at around 1 p.m. at Pudu Raya .. the ever famous bus station in the heart of KL. I waited for them at the corner of 7-11 and brought them for lunch at home. My aunty and I had gone to the market early in the morning, so that she'd be able to prepare curry chicken, ratatui, ikan jacket sumbat i.e. ikan cincaru sumbat and fishball soup. After a heavy lunch, I sent them to the hotel to rest before the wake service in the evening at Nirwana Memorial Centre.

Just after 4, it started to rain very heavily. *sigh* disaster, I can foresee us in the jam on the way to the service. True enough, we were stuck after the Sunway toll, as I was heading for Sg Besi. I think it was a culture shock for pa & ma. I dont think they expected to be stuck in such a terrible jam and see so many cars bumper to bumper heading for the same direction. Pa actually wore his safety belt even though he was sitting at the back seat!

We arrived at the Kuchai Lama exit. We could see Nirwana Memorial Centre, but we didnt know how to reach it. I just drove following the sign board to Sg Besi and finally reached the centre just about 8:30 p.m. Everyone, including the assistant pastor was late due to the rain and jam. It was a sweet and short wake service.

The next day, we arrived KL Wesley just before 10:30 a.m. The family were already there. Pa & ma met up with a few old friends who were mutual friends when they were young and had left Kuantan for many many years. After the service, we went to the Cheras Crematorium then back to church for lunch. Uncle Ed was there was well. After making sure their stomachs were full, I sent them to Pudu Raya to catch the next available bus home to Kuantan, away from the jam and heavy rain.

It is on occassions like these that make me realise how important family are, especially pa, ma, cece, koko and Toby tobs. I think I would rather die first before all of them. I couldnt bare to loose them first and be alone.

Good bye Aunty Lu

Aunty Lu passed away last night. My mum and her were close friends from their younger days in Kuantan. Mum was her bridesmaid when she married Uncle Ted.

Then when Kimmy boy was growing up, they would often visit us. We have many photographs of my sister and Kimmy boy in their overalls and teddy bear. I remember Aunty Lu being very strict but also very much an aunty. She made delicious American chocolate chip cookies (huge ones) and would be sure to bring a whole tupperware during her visits. I remember mum telling me she was also a great swimmer and she loved the sea. She introduced us to the travelling cup. A cup designed especially for drinking in the car while travelling. The last time I saw Aunty Lu was when mum and I came to KL for a visit. This was at least 10 years ago before I "migrated" to KL. We stayed at her home in Bangi. She brought us to FRIM and Sg Wang plaza area. It was the first time for me and mum.

She always drove around in big imported cars. It was her car that pa drove an automatic car for the first time. She gave me a whoppi cushion when we saw her just before Dina left for the UK. It was a blow-up balloon like thingy, that you put underneath a pillow and get someone to sit on it.. then you'd hear a fart-like sound! Hehe. She was great at buying mum things as well. I remember how she'd be in mum's kitchen complaining that there isnt any chopping board or big enough knife or that there wasnt proper plates. So she bought mum a dinner set! We used it for years.

We'll always remember Aunty Lu, in our own special way.

Prince Charming is coming to sweep me off my feet!

Yes. It is true. On May 22, my prince charming i.e Toby tobs ;) will be arriving in Malaysia. I have plans for him and his mamama & dadada for the few days they are in KL. After that, they'll need to go home to Ah Ma & Ah Kong in Kuantan, never to leave the house till they fly back in mid-June. So, before they are inprisoned ;) I better take them round KL for food and some site seeing.

So where shall I bring them for food? Dadada would surely want to have roti canai. So we'll go to Grandcity restaurant in SS11, where he can have roti canai and many variety of curries .. fish, chicken, mutton, crab .. and also vegetables and other kuih muih. Their curry puff in the evening's are a hit as well. Mamama can have her capati or tosai. We'll just give Tobs some payasam if they are serving it then.

I also thought of Madam Kwan's, where we could have nasi lemak OR order a few famous dishes off the menu for dinner, if Tobs isnt too tired or already asleep. I am secretly hoping he sleeps UK time, so that he will be awake most of the time at night ;)

I think Bagan Lalang will be a little too far for the 3 of them. So I have to think of a place to have seafood, or maybe they could have it back home in Kuantan. The ikan bakar in Kuantan is famous. Especially in Tanjung Lumpur. There are many shops along the road side that sell fresh seafood. AND its cheap. Once I had ikan kerapu masak 3 rasa, deep fried prawns, tom yam and kai lan ikan masin for less than RM 40! :) AND it was delicious.

So where else to eat in KL? Of course, my aunt Baba has promised my sister ju-hu-cha. Famous hokkien dish, which is eaten with salad leave. We normally have it once a year during Chinese New Year. Maybe I should take my sister to The Curve, then she can choose what she wants to eat. Or even Pavillion. I hear the food court there is quite interesting as well.

As for places to visit, this is especially for Dadada. So Mamama has suggested places like Batu Caves, FRIM, Tugu Negara, Muzium Negara & Planiterium Negara. Not bad. Even I havent been to Batu Caves or Tugu Negara. Good idea.

When they go home to Kuantan, I think they would be spending most of their time entertaining relatives and friends. Of course a special visit to my grandma's so that her great-grandchild can call her Ah to. She now has 6 great grandchildren. AND of course, my mum will be preparing or buying them all the food they crave for, OR she might just let the adults fend for themselves, while she looks after Toby tobs.

Take a break!

I need a holiday. A short break. Whatever you want to call it. I just need to go away from the hussle-bussle of the city. Pamper myself. Spend some time on self-reflection. Stop thinking about work. Stop thinking about what bills I need to pay on my next salary. Stop worrying. Its a disaster! I over worry. I wonder how many people do the same?

I know people who just "tak kisah" @ "dont care". But sometimes when I think about it, isnt that lifestyle so much simplier and easier? Just let it be. Tackle things as they come. Maybe I should try that, eh? Live each day to its fullest. Not worrying about tomorrow.

My sister a.k.a jie-jie @ cece

I have one sister. Apart from my parents, she is my only family. Now of course that she is married, I have one brother and one nephew (and hopefully more to come ;))

My sister and her family stay far far away from us .. cewah .. kat UK .. not Ulu Kelang! She has been there since I was 12 and she was 18. When we were younger ;) we would go swimming together. She was a great swimmer. She has got brains as well. Very CREBER. Hou lek loi. Ci nia gau. That is how she was given the oppurtunity to continue her A-Levels with the mat-sallehs.

When I was a child.. maybe 4-5 years old. I attempted to kill my sister, by stabbing her back with a scissors! You see? I can be violent. So men .. beware!! She can show you the scar.

In my teens, my sister and I barely talked or communicated. I had high-school, tuition etc etc. She was in university and then just started working. Then when I started working and she had found her true love .. ;) we started emailing each other daily. I went on my first trip overseas in 2002 to visit her. I must admit that I was nervous because I hadnt seen her for 5 years. But she looked the same .. like Lucy Liu (she is going to kill me for publishing this!) much prettier .. stylish .. gaya, mutu, keunggulan! AND .. SHE HAS TWO CATS!! I never touch any other cat except for Chloe and Sophie who look more like tiger cubs than cats. One is very blur. One is a little crazy and can hiss at you when she isnt in the mood.

NOW, my sister and I are close. Closer than I would have expected 10 years ago. She's coming back this May with koko (brother) and kim tu kia (golden pig baby). We're going to have lots of fun .. then lots of tears when she has to leave. BUT!! I'll be seeing her for Christmas in the UK!! :D

23rd March 2008 Petronas Malaysian GP

So we started our journey to Sepang International Circuit (SIC) just after 11 a.m. On the highway, most of the neighbouring cars were headed to the same destination. There was a massive jam till be reached the booths to purchase our parking stickers, that cost RM 50! We were suppose to be allocated the parking space just behind the grandstand, but NOooooo... we had to walk at least 1km! Not so bad I thought, since we got the tickets free. IF I had purchased those tickets, I would have caused a stir with the organisers!

We park the car on muddy land and walk under very hot sun. By the time we reached the entrance of SIC, we were hot, tired and sweaty. Not good. But everyone around us looked the same. We walked around the murchandise stores and decided it was a little above our budgets to buy any off the selling items. So we decided to get to our seats... but not before security checks to ensure we do not bring in our own food and drinks.

e get to our seats (after seating at the wrong places twice!) My boyfriend went to get more drinks and came back with a satay set. I was so excited. Satay!! Yum yum .. he opened it, just to show me 8 sticks of satay, a little nasi impit, satay sauce and a packed jelly .. all worth RM 20! 2 cans of 100-plus for RM 10. I thank God again that I didnt purchase those tickets.

We left just as Ferrari won the race. We thought we'd avoid the crowd, but noooooooo everyone got up and left as well. We walked as fast as we could to avoid any unwanted jam as it was about to rain as well.

All in all, it was an experience we wont forget.. My boyfriend will remember the race, but I'll remember the RM 20 satay! ;)

Home sweet home

I am back home in Kuantan today. I had initially planned to stay till Sunday afternoon, but because of F1, I am travelling back to KL after the Easter Sunrise Service tomorrow morning.

I left KL at about half past 5 a.m. I like it! No cars on the road till I reached Kuantan just before 8 a.m. Moving forward, all trips home will start at 5 a.m. :) :) But be very careful at the new highway because at some parts, it is very misty. Quite scary, as if in heaven!

So mummy was in the garden when I arrived, singing and talking to her plants. NO my mother is not senile! To her and everyone else, its a garden .. beautiful garden. To me, its a jungle with mosquitoes that LOVE to bite me ;) I had a nap .. well not really a nap .. 3 hours knocked out. Mummy and I had lunch i.e. fish, vegetable & soup. Then we headed to the tyre shop to get 2 new tyres, before heading off to see grandma and also buy some merchandise from the salt fish shop.

At grandma's we had a few short Hainanese drama, with the main actress being rich aunt, supported by semi-blind aunt, hunched-back aunt and little aunt. Grandma was jus the prop. This is a daily scene. Hunched-back aunt prepared fried kuey-teow and "rat's-tail noodle" for lunch. She was busy folding hell-notes for the chinese version of all soul's day next week. She folded them into crowns and some other shapes, depending on the amount of the note.

For dinner, mummy prepared steamboat, with lots of fish & meat balls and vegetables. Papa likes vegetable too much. So at every meal, there is always lots and lots of vegetable. After dinner, we had a video call with Toby tobs and my sister. Toby tobs was so excited to see the rubber ducks his Ah Ma had bought for him. But he got a little scared and cried, when Ah Ma showed him a red chinese costume that she bought along with a few other clothings. He'll be wearing it when he's back here in June to celebrate his 1st birthday :)

I'll be going off to sleep soon. I've got a long day tommorrow. Hopefully I'll have photographs of F1 on my next blog or so.

This weekend..

Cutie pie Toby-tobs hadnt been feeling too well at the beginning of this week .. but today I was able to catch a glimpse of him on a video call .. he was laughing! We've been all worried and now we can look forward to more video calls and oohh aahhh la la la on the phone.

I'll be calling him tomorrow with his Ah Ma and Ah Kong in Kuantan. I planned to go home and return on Sunday evening, but plans have changed because I've got complementary F1 grandstand tickets!! :) :)

Hopefully the next blog will be with pictures.

Cutie pie..

Food glorious food

I loooovvvvvvvveeeeeeeee food. Mama bulat says I only decline wood and rock .. i.e. tolak kayu dgn batu aje :) We think if someone cooks japanese slippers and serves it to me, I'd eat it! :P

I just had lunch/tea. My plate had yong-tau-fu, garlic bread and chicken liver. I know some of you would go .. uurrggghh .. chicken liver .. urrgghhh

Please remember I am chinese. My mother use to tell us.. Chinese people eat everything that flies, except aeroplanes.. everything that has four legs, except tables and chairs.. This is quite true.

But I sometimes ask myself: what are my favourite dishes? The first that comes in mind is lamb. I love lamb. Then there is hokkien noodles, sea-food @ Bagan Lalang, fajitas (especially lamb fajitas .. duh), spaghetti (must be BIG MEATBALLS). How about desert? My sister's meringue pie, ICE-CREAM, chocolate cake, cheese cake.

About a year ago, my boyfriend and I found a nasi padang (field rice .. he he) restaurant near the house. We usually go there for lunch, as the place is air-conditioned and the people are friendly. It also sells antique furniture. Our usual dishes there are ayam kalio, ikan asam pedas, salted fish, green long beans fried with chicken liver and deep fried chicken liver & gizzards. Yum-yum. It offers other delicacies such as deep fried kampung chicken, daisy-moo's tendon cooked in curry (tried it once and i vow never to try it again), grilled cat-fish, duck's egg cooked in coconut milk and turmeric, yam leaf with sambal belacan, ox tail soup with carrots and potatoes and also deserts such as sago in coconut milk and even fermanted tapioca.

On weekends when we're not working, we sometimes drive to Bagan Lalang (near Sg Pelek, Sepang) for seafood by the sea (not a very nice sea view, but in KL beggars cant be choosers) Our usual dishes are kerapu 3 rasa (garoupa cooked 3 flavours - sweet sour and chilied), pepahat (bamboo lala) cooked in egg, fried crab and squid cooked in sambal (chili). We dont order vegetable because all the dishes are cooked with celery and cauliflower. Its always worth the drive :)

What shall I eat tonight? I'm suppose to be on a diet, to skip or replace dinner with a protein drink. Fish, chicken and eggs are protein as well, right? ;)

Parents Vs Computer

My parents have crashed their machine again! This time, it isnt slow response or unexpected icons on the desktop.. its blue screen!! How they manage to do it, I dont have a clue.

When I started working, I decided that I no longer need a machine at home, so I sent it back to my parents, with an additional USB modem, so that they could write to my sister. From then on, my cousin a.k.a a-tech has had to reformat the machine a couple of times. I used this machine for a multimedia project and it never crashed on me then.

When a-tech called today, I knew something has gone wrong somewhere. He has taken the machine back to try and revive it. If that fails, then its a new machine for my parents this year.. tower desktop with dual-core processor, 1 GB RAM and 160 Gb hard drive.

If ANY computer company need testers for their machine, I would HIGHLY recommend my parents and all other parents who have successfully crashed machines that helped us through university!!

It's finally over!

I can finally go home. Its a wrap.

I'm still here...

Its 07:36hrs, 15th March in Malaysia. I have been in the office for 12 hours, hoping that I will be heading home soon. But the latest updates from Limerick, have indicated, that I will most probably be here for the next few hours.. :( disaster :(

Obviously, this picture was NOT taken today!

la-la-la .. aaahhhh .. ha ha .. *cough cough*.. da-da

Introducing my nephew Tobs :)

I speak to him daily and have video calls over the weekend, when his mummy is free. I have missed our video calls today, because I'm at work. But I did have our daily calls, which consists of la-la-la .. aaahhhh .. ha ha .. *cough cough*.. da-da (everytime the phone rings, he thinks it's his dad)

He gets very "ham sap" on video calls. He'll stare at the screen, wait for me to make a funny face, then get all shy-shy and smile, while leaning his head against his mummy.

Tobs will be experiencing his first aeroplane trip back to Malaysia. Ah-ma (my mum), ah kong (my pa) and Ah-ee (me!), as well as many "admirers" (mostly ah-ma and ah-kong's friends) are counting the days.

My office, my home

I remember in secondary school, we had a motto "Sekolahku, rumahku" i.e. "My school, my home". Today, I have a very similar motto "My office, my home".
I spent almost 36 hours in the office last Thursday. I now realise I am a workaholic.

Bro, mama-bulat & I went for dinner on Wednesday night, in preparation for the work that would start at 4 a.m. We had deep fried squid, claypot tofu and "yau-mak" (green leafy vegetable). Then we went to the 24-hours mini mart to buy our junk-food stock for the night.

We came back to office and after a few minutes of Seniman Bujang Lapok, mama-bulat & I decided that it was time to freshen-up before I had a conference call at 3 a.m. (The office has a shower built in the toilet .. a hint that you are required to work many many hours away from home!)

Just after 2 a.m., mama-bulat & I were applying make-up!! This is truely important to us, no matter what time of day. My mum never leaves the house without lipstick. Come to think of it, she even has lipstick on at home!

The activities kicked-off at 4 a.m. We were still awake and aware of what was going on but at 10 a.m. you could hear us snoring at our cubicles. We just couldnt be bothered about everyone else.
11 a.m. our stomachs started to complain; lack of food; we went and had nasi lemak in the cafeteria.

3 p.m. bro, pakcik and the others arrived, expecting to find zombies. But they heard were greeted with laughter and lots of chatter. I think it was because we had lost our sanity. Mama-bulat left after awhile. Bulat at home required her .. moo-moo time. I decided to stay on for awhile. I had meetings to attend. I had my performance review. I continued working and had cat naps along the way ;) I finally left the office at around 2 a.m. I think I should change my contact address to @office.

Even as I am writing this, I AM IN THE OFFICE. I "checked-in" at 7:15 p.m. I dont think I am leaving till Sunday noon!

"My office, my home".. *sigh*

Hello everyone

Hello hello .. I've started blogging today!! :)
